Body Of Missing Swimmer Found In Rehoboth Beach

With the assistance of multiple local, state, and federal agencies Rehoboth Beach Police have located the body of Timothy S. Toner, 43, of Lewes, Del. who was reported missing early Monday morning, according to police.

Officials said Toner was reported missing by a friend just after 1:30 am when she witnessed him enter the ocean in the area of Rehoboth Avenue and not return after being gone for approximately 20 minutes. Multiple agencies responded to assist in the land, air, and water search, but all were unsuccessful in locating Toner.

On Monday morning just after 11:00 am, Toner’s body was spotted in the surf along the beach in the Delaware Seashore State Park just south of Dewey Beach in the area of Tower Road. A forensic investigator from the Division of Forensic Science responded to the scene and the body was removed. A death investigation is being conducted by the Rehoboth Beach Police with the assistance of the Division of Forensic Science and the Delaware State Police.

At this time no foul play is suspected.

Breaking Report

Rehoboth Beach – Authorities are actively searching for a swimmer who was reported missing early this morning.

Just after 1:30 this morning Rehoboth Beach emergency dispatchers received a call from a woman who said that her friend, a man in his 40’s, had entered the ocean and did not return, according to officials.

Rescue crews from the Delaware Fish and Wildlife Natural Resources Police, Rehoboth Beach Police and the U.S Coast Guard are searching the waters for the missing man.
