Smyrna High Evacuated, Bomb Threat

Update 2: Smyrna Police

The Smyrna High School has been thoroughly swept by Explosive detection K9 teams from the Delaware State Police, Delaware Capitol Police, DNREC Police, and the Delaware River and Bay Authority Police. The school has been deemed safe. There is no threat to public safety at this time. The investigation into the perpetrator(s) of this threat is active and ongoing. We have no further details to release at this moment. The SPD would like to thank all of our regional law enforcement partners who responded to quickly to help us with this incident.

Update: Smyrna Police

The perimeter of the School has been cleared and deemed safe. The rest of the students/staff who are on site at the Middle School will be released very shortly. This is an active and ongoing investigation and more details will be released soon.

Symrna – Smyrna Police are reporting that students and staff are currently being evacuated from the Smyrna High School due to a bomb threat.

All non-bus students are being evacuated to the Middle School.

All students who ride the bus will be departing the high school on buses and taken home.

Explosive detection K9 teams are arriving at the school to conduct a sweep.

Duck Creek Parkway is shut down from the Middle School to the High School.

Police are telling parents not attempt to reach the high school.  They will release a meeting point shortly.
