Third Person Hit By Train Identified, One Dead, Two In Critical

Georgetown, DE-Georgetown Police have identified a third subject involved in Sunday morning’s train collision.

A previously unidentified person who injured in a recent train collision has been identified as Mario Niz-Lopez, 25 of Georgetown. Niz-Lopez and Widmer Roblero-Ortiz both remain listed in critical condition at Christiana Hospital.

Georgetown – Georgetown Police have identified two of the three subjects involved in Sunday Morning’s train collision, according to Detective Joey Melvin.

Melvin said Cecilia Vincencio-Cruz 33, and Widmer Roblero-Ortiz 29, both of Georgetown, have been identified as being involved in Sunday mornings collision. Vincencio-Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene and Roblero-Oriz is still listed in critical condition at Christiana Hospital.

A second male victim also is also in critical condition at Christiana Hospital and remains unidentified. The victim is a Hispanic male in his early 20’s.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that all three victims were lying on the railroad tracks at the time they were struck by the train. While not confirmed, alcohol is possibly a factor in this incident. No charges have been filed.

Georgetown – Georgetown Police are currently investigating a crash involving three subjects who were struck by a train near the 600 block of North Bedford Street in Georgetown, according to Detective Joey Melvin.

Melvin said at approximately 12:44 this morning, Sunday, September 16, 2018, Officers with the Georgetown Police Department were dispatched to the railroad tracks behind the 600 block of North Bedford Street.

Officials believe that a Carload Express train traveling northbound struck three subjects, killing a female, who was pronounced dead at the scene, and badly injuring two males. Both males were transported to the hospital in critical condition, said Melvin.

The area where the three were struck is not a car crossing so it’s unclear how the three were struck. Melvin said that all three were adults and were not in a vehicle.

The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
