Wilmington Police have made two arrests in a case that we brought you first on Thursday morning.
On Thursday, October 11, 2018, at approximately 9:12 in the morning, Wilmington Police responded to the 600 block of W. 8th Street, in reference to a shooting. Although originally dispatched as a double shooting, officers upon their arrival only located one victim. He was suffering from several gunshot wounds and was transported to the hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Members of the Wilmington Police Criminal Investigations Division responded and within hours identified 25-year-old, Maurice Williams, of the 600 block of W. 8th Street and Parrish Brown, 24, of the 2500 block of Thatcher Street as the alleged shooters, according to police.
Officials said that arrest warrants were obtained for Attempted Murder 1st degree, Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony, Possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, Conspiracy 1st Degree and Aggravated Menacing.
Within hours, members of Wilmington Police Uniformed Services Division located and arrested Parrish Brown in the 3400 block of Market Street. He was taken into custody without incident. At around the same time, the Criminal Investigations Division began executing search warrants in the 2500 block of Thatcher Street, where they located Maurice Williams. He was also arrested without incident, according to police.
Both men are awaiting arraignment.
Breaking Report
Wilmington – Rescue crews from the Wilmington Fire Department, along with New Castle County Paramedics and Wilmington Police have responded to the 600 block of West 8th Street for reports that two people have been shot.
Update: Upon arrival, crews reported that one patient was shot in the leg and the other patient was suffering from an ankle injury, not a gunshot wound.
At approximately 9:12 am, today, police responded to a report of a shooting. Upon their arrival, police located a 41-year-old male victim, who was suffering from a gunshot wound.
The male victim was treated at the scene and transported to the Wilmington Hospital.
The victim is currently listed in stable condition.
This is an on-going investigation.
