The Delaware State Police has updated their investigation into a shots fired incident that occurred at A.I. DuPont High School.
On Tuesday night, December 18, 2018, at approximately 7:44 p.m., Troopers working a detail at an A.I. DuPont H.S.Basketball game began receiving reports of gunfire in the area.
Troopers immediately placed the school on lockdown and secured the building before responding to investigate.
During a search of the area, Troopers recovered a loaded .22 caliber handgun as well as multiple 9 mm shell casings in the area where witnesses first reported hearing the gunfire.
Troopers also discovered that two unoccupied vehicles which were parked in the area had been struck by rounds.
These vehicles were confirmed to belong to game attendees. They are not associated with anyone involved in the shooting, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are investigating a shots fired incident that occurred at approximately 7:44 p.m., Tuesday, December 18, 2018, on the property of A.I. DuPont H.S., located at 50 Hillside Rd., Wilmington.
A basketball game had just concluded when bystanders who were still in the parking lot, reported that they heard gunfire. Upon being notified, Troopers who were already on site as part of the regularly scheduled security detail for the game immediately secured the building and then responded to investigate.
After a search of the school property was conducted and deemed safe, those who had been secured inside the building were able to leave. No victims have been located at this time and no suspects are in custody, according to police.
