Update: Officials Investigating Fatal House Fire In Cecil County

Cecil County – Maryland Deputy State Fire Marshals are currently on the scene of this morning’s fatal mobile home fire near Rising Sun.

Officials are conducting an origin and cause investigation of the fire that occurred in the unit block of Mason Dixon Court.

Just after 5:00 this morning, emergency dispatchers received a 911 call from the occupant who discovered the fire.  Firefighters from the Community Fire Company of Rising Sun were dispatched to the scene and reported a working structure fire upon their arrival. Command then struck a second alarm, which brought additional firefighters from around Cecil County, and Pennsylvania.

The two-alarm fire was brought under control about 40 minutes after crews first arrived on scene.  Once the fire was extinguished, an adult victim was located inside the structure, deceased.

Officials said due to the extreme amount of damage, it is undetermined as to whether there were any working smoke alarms in the home.

The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the identification of the victim and for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities have estimated the damages at approximately $125,000. They also said that they are working to determine who owned the property.

The Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division is conducting the death investigation.

Cecil County – Just after 5:00 this morning, Friday, January 11, 2019, firefighters from Cecil County, Hartford County, Md.,  Lancaster and Chester County, PA.  responded to the unit block of Mason Dixon Court, near Rising Sun, Maryland, for a mobile home fire.

While en route crews were alerted that there may be someone inside the home. Upon arrival, crews reported that fire was coming from the structure.

As crews worked to extinguse the fire they made their way into the home, where they located one person.

Officials have not released details regarding the fire or the condition of the person at this time.

Fire Marshals are on scene investigating.
