Man Wanted In Armed Florida Home Invasion Arrested In Delaware

On Friday, March 08, 2019, officers from the Ocean View, Delaware Police Department located and arrested Paul N. Owen, 32, of Ocean View, Delaware, according to Chief Kenneth McLaughlin.

Owen was wanted for failing to appear in Sussex County Superior Court in August of 2018. He is facing 3rd offense DUI, resisting arrest and failing to have a driver’s license. Those charges stemmed from a traffic stop made by Ocean View police on May 25, 2018, McLaughlin said.

While in custody, it was discovered that Owen was wanted by authorities in Escambia County, Florida. Investigators from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office told Ocean View officers that Owen was suspected of committing a home invasion robbery in Florida on October 11, 2017.

McLaughlin said that during the robbery, Owen, allegedly was armed with a shotgun and wearing a mask, assaulted the homeowner and multiple firearms were stolen.

Ocean View police committed Owen to the Sussex County Correctional Institute in lieu of $9,000 secured cash bond. Additionally, a detainer was filed on Owen by authorities in Florida for home invasion robbery (armed), use of a firearm during a felony, theft of a firearm (5 counts), aggravated assault and committing a felony while wearing a mask. McLaughlin said that after his charges in Delaware are adjudicated, he will be extradited to Florida.
