Happening Now: Police Surround Home Near The Old Boxwood Plant In Wilmington

Just after 3:00 this afternoon a Trooper with the Delaware State Police attempted to stop a Volkswagon GTI traveling on Maryland Avenue near Boxwood Road.

[ms-protect-content id=”35525,36371,36374,36464,36481″] get the license plate number and quickly determined that the vehicle was registered to a home in the unit block of Read Avenue, just a few blocks away.
Officers responding to the home found the vehicle at that location and have attempted to make contact with the driver, believed to be inside the home.

Troopers and New Castle County Police Officers have surrounded the home and K-9 unit is searching the neighborhood.

Troopers have obtained a search warrant and are in the process of searching the home.

Update: Additional officers have responded to a home in the unit block of Laura Court, just around the corner, believed to be that of the subject’s friend.

Update: Troopers have made contact with the subject and he has told them he is on his way back to the home on Read Avenue.

Update: At 5:00 pm the subject was placed under arrest.

It’s unclear why the Trooper was initially trying to stop the vehicle.
