Troopers: Newark Man Arrested After Pulling Box Cutter At Bus Stop

The Delaware State Police have charged 33-year-old James E. Russell Jr. of Newark with multiple offenses after he threatened another man with a box cutter, Sunday evening, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m., Sunday, April 28, 2019, at a bus stop located at the Christiana Mall. Russell approached the 45-year-old male victim and for unknown reasons began making derogatory and threatening statements. Russell then displayed a box cutter knife and threatened to cut the victim, Austin said.

Responding Troopers located Russell at the scene and he was taken into custody without incident. A subsequent search of his person produced the box cutter. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.

Russell was transported to Troop 6 where he was charged with one count each of Aggravated Menacing (felony), Terroristic Threatening, Carrying a Concealed Deadly Instrument and Disorderly Conduct. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #11 and released on $2100.00 unsecured bail.
