New waterfront space at Lewes Ferry terminal offers a mix of Dogfish Head libations and offbeat eats

LEWES, Del. – Cape May-Lewes Ferry (CMLF) and Dogfish Head Craft Brewery are excited to announce the grand opening of Off-Centered On The Rocks – a collaborative outdoor space at the Lewes Ferry terminal – on Friday, June 14. This waterfront, community-style space will feature a fire pit, pergola, picnic tables, benches and cornhole, as well as offer a selection of Dogfish Head brews, Dogfish Head Distilling Co. cocktails and beer-infused eats.

“Dogfish Head is a proven, respected name brand and we’re pleased to be able to partner with them on this concept,” said Shaun O’Brien, Superintendent of Food and Retail at CMLF. “We wanted to create a casual, relaxed atmosphere that would encourage people to hang out and enjoy the waterfront ambiance at the terminal. This family-friendly environment with Dogfish Head’s unique food creations and award-winning craft beer selections is a home run.” O’Brien also noted that the space is dog-friendly.

A Dogfish Head-branded food truck will act as the anchor for Off-Centered On The Rocks, boasting a tasty menu chock full of exclusive dishes and drinks, including:

· Off-Centered Burger with beer cheese and Dogfish Head Distilling Co. Barrel Honey Rum bacon

· Bratwurst with beer-braised onions and spicy mustard

· SeaQuench Ale Chicken Wings with black lime sea salt, lime zest and black lime crema

· SuperEIGHT Wrap with toasted quinoa, baby greens, chickpeas, lemon zest, parsley and a prickly pear vinaigrette

· Quenchelada cocktail made with Bloody Mary mix and SeaQuench Ale

· Off-Centered Crush cocktail made with Dogfish Head Distilling Co. Barrel Honey Rum

· A selection of canned Dogfish Head beers

“The Lewes Ferry terminal, with its picturesque waterfront scene, is a place where folks can go to experience and enjoy the natural beauty of coastal Delaware by boat, by car, by foot, by kayak, by bike, or by paddleboard, by gosh!” said Sam Calagione, founder of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery. “With our longstanding allegiance to all things nautical, we at Dogfish Head are excited to embark on this voyage with CMLF and share our off-centered goodness with the nearly one million ferry passengers that visit the terminal’s facilities each year.”

Committed to both sustainability and the surrounding community, CMLF enlisted the help of local contractors to develop Off-Centered On The Rocks using only natural and recycled products – wood, stone, recycled plastics and recycled furniture. Doing its part to maintain the waters on which it was built, the Lewes ferry’s food service was recently named ‘Ocean-Friendly Certified’ by the Surfrider Foundation. With this certification, they join a myriad of other local businesses, including Dogfish Head’s Rehoboth restaurants, Brewings & Eats and Chesapeake & Maine, in a joint quest to foster and protect the area’s ocean and marine life.

“Last year, Dogfish Head sponsored the Summer Concert Series here at the Lewes terminal,” said Heath Gehrke, Director of Ferry Operations at CMLF. “Over the past few years, we have steadily increased our Dogfish Head beer and spirits selections at the terminal and on board, and the response from the public has been very positive. With Dogfish Head’s strong brand, deep ties to the local community and a reputation for innovation, quality and locally-sourced ingredients, we’re very excited to be able to partner with them on this fun, waterfront creation.”
