Police: Burglary Suspect Caught In The Act By Responding Officers

Wilmington Police have arrested a man caught during a burglary incident in progress, officials said Thursday.

Police said on June 12 at approximately 11:25 p.m., police were called to a business in the 1300 block of North Union Street in reference to a burglar alarm that had been activated. Upon arrival, officers noticed an unsecured entrance to the building and established a perimeter.

Officers then observed a man inside of the business attempting to conceal power tools in a black duffle bag, said police. That man, identified as 35-year-old Julio Flores, then attempted to flee on foot, but officers were able to take him into custody without incident.

Flores has been charged with burglary (third degree) and theft under $1,500. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $3,500 cash-only bail.
