Newark Police Officers respond to the scene very quickly, with one officer directing dispatch to get a K-9 Unit on scene asap. Within minutes a County K-9 Unit along with two other County Units arrived to assist the Newark Officers. Reports from the scene indicate that a K-9 track was implemented, however, it’s not clear if that track was successful.
Police officers descended on a Studio Green Apartment building off of Thorn lane a few blocks away from the Sunoco where witnesses said the SWAT team raided an apartment.
Smith confirmed that the Newark Police SWAT Team arrested Shane Kudlick, 21, of Newark for the series of robberies on South Main Street. Through investigative means, including reviewing surveillance video Kudlick was identified as the suspect in these robberies, said Smith.
