Bear – Delaware State Police are currently investigating the robbery of a Bear area Wawa that occurred early this morning, according to Delaware State Police Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Gary Fournier.
Fournier said that at approximately 5:05 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2017, as a male suspect entered the Wawa located at 1100 Pulaski Highway in Bear. The suspect confronted a male employee who was standing behind the sales counter and asked for a carton of cigarettes, according Fournier. Before making a monetary transaction, the suspect demanded money from the cash register and displayed an unknown type handgun, said Fournier.
The employee was unable to turn over the cash and the suspect reached over the counter and forcefully removed the cigarettes from the clerk’s hands before exiting the business and fleeing toward the rear of the business, according to Fournier. The clerk was uninjured in the incident.
The suspect was described as a white male, 20-25 years of age, 5’05”-5’07” tall, 160-180 lbs., last seen wearing a dark colored sweatshirt, dark pants, and a dark colored baseball hat (No further physical or clothing description available). An unknown type handgun was displayed.
