In a live press conference Friday, Delaware Governor John Carney ordered schools closed for the remainder of the school year.
“But we expect that schools and teachers would finish out the last two months as they have been, with remote learning, and get as much instructional time and learning with their students as possible. I see no replacement for in-person instruction in classrooms,” the governor said.
The governor announced at his biweekly news conference that schools will remain closed and directed Delaware superintendents to begin planning for summer learning and instruction. He also asked them to make plans for summer food distribution.
