Troopers Charge Philadelphia Man With Shooting Death Near Dover AFB

Dover- The Delaware State Police have identified two suspects, Jason D. Calhum, 18, of Philadelphia, PA and Darielle Oliver, 18, of Wilmington, DE in connection with the homicide that occurred in the Dover area in late February 2020, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on February 25, 2020, at approximately 2:00 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the parking lot between the McDonalds and the Best Western off of Pine Cabin Road and E. Lebanon Road, Dover, for a report of shots being fired.

Upon arrival to the area, Troopers located an adult male, later identified as 18-year-old Shiheem Durham, of Dover, DE, in the area of the Premier Village Apartments deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

Through investigative measures, Jason Calhum was identified as the shooter and Darielle Oliver was identified as the getaway driver, said Jaffe. On April 23, 2020, Calhum was taken into custody at his residence in Philadelphia, PA. Calhum is currently being held at the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility in Philadelphia pending extradition.  Upon his extradition back to Delaware, Calhum will be charged with the following:

Murder First Degree
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Possession of a Firearm By a Person Prohibited
Conspiracy First Degree

On May 4, 2020 Darielle Oliver turned herself in at Troop 2 where she was charged with Conspiracy First Degree (Felony). She was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on her own recognizance.

The incident continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit for possible further suspect(s). Doverer- The Delaware State Police are releasing the name of the victim who was involved in the shooting incident on February 25, 2020, in the area of the Premier Village Apartments, Dover, as 18-year-old Shiheem Durham, of Dover, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

This incident continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit.

Dover- The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate a shots fired incident in which one individual was located deceased.

The incident occurred on February 25, 2020 at approximately 2:00 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the parking lot between the McDonalds and the Best Western off of Pine Cabin Road and E. Lebanon Road, Dover, for a report of shots being fired.  Upon arrival to the area, Troopers located an adult male in the area of the Premier Village Apartments deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.

The individual has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science where an autopsy will be performed to determine the manner and cause of death. The victim’s identity is being withheld at this time pending the notification of the next of kin.

There is no suspect information at this time and further details will be released as they become available.

Breaking Report

Dover- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a shots fired incident that occurred in a parking lot near Dover Air Force Base.

At around 2:00 this afternoon, Delaware State Police received an initial call from Dover AFB security who was reporting multiple shots fired in the area.

As Trooper responded to the scene additional callers began reporting that the shooting had occurred near the Best Western on Route 10, just across Route 1 from the base.

Arriving Troopers located found one subject suffering from at least one gunshot. The victim was inside a vehicle at or near the scene according to initial reports.

The victim has been rushed to an area hospital. We are withholding the nature of the victim’s injuries at this time.

Troopers are investigating the incident which took place in the parking lot of the nearby Premier Village Apartments.
