County Police say they are investigating a shooting that occurred in Claymont on Saturday night.
In a statement released by the department, officials said at 8:10 p.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the area of 4th Avenue, in the community of Overlook Colony for the report of a shooting that had just occurred.
When the officers arrived, they found a 54-year-old man suffering from what they say was a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his upper torso.
In their statement, police officials said that the victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
Officials said detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit have assumed the investigation.
No further details surrounding the shooting have been released by police.
