The Dover Police Department is investigating two shooting incidents that occurred late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.
Hoffman said at approximately 11:23PM, officers heard gunshots on the east side of Dover, possibly in the area of the Town Pointe community. Officers could not locate a scene, but approximately ten minutes later, an 18-year-old male arrived at Kent General Hospital by private vehicle with gunshot wounds to his chest and arm. The victim was uncooperative with detectives and only advised that he was walking through a neighborhood in Dover when he was shot. The victim is in stable condition.
At approximately 1:51AM, officers responded to the 100 Block of Hampton Drive for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a home that was struck multiple times. No injuries were reported. The resident of the home that was struck did not call the police and provided conflicting information to detectives, according to Hoffman. A witness in the neighborhood stated that they witnessed two black male suspects (one in a red hooded sweatshirt and one in a black hooded sweatshirt) stand in front of the home struck by gunfire, remove a firearm and shoot several times before fleeing west on foot.
The Dover Police Department cannot confirm the incidents are related at this time but it is part of the ongoing investigation, said Hoffman.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302)736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous.
