Vandals Smashing Windows Near Casho Mill & 273 In Newark

Newark – On February 2, 2017 two separate victims reported rocks being thrown through their vehicle windows overnight, ,according to Newark Police Spokesman Lieutenant Fred Nelson.

Nelson said that one of the vehicles was parked in a driveway in the Unit Block of Timber Creek Lane when the damaged occurred. A large cinder block was found in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, however, no property was reported stolen, said Nelson.

The other vehicle was parked on the roadway in the Unit Block of Tufts Lane. A large rock was found lying next to the vehicle, along with broken glass from the window, according to Nelson. The victim reported that a small amount of loose change was missing from inside of the vehicle.

On Wednesday Feb. 6, 2017, residents took to Nextdoor to alert neighbors about the vandals. One Nottingham Green resident said:

Car Window Smashed on locked car sitting on Tufts Lane directly under city Street Lamp – Approx $1K damage done by vandals before 4:30 a.m. One ft by 6 inch large rock used and left at scene. Rock was not from our property. Had to be carried to the scene (or in someone’s car?). “

Another resident from the Covered Bridge Farms neighborhood, which sits just outside Newark city limits,  said that they “Had the same problem 3 weeks ago”
