Just before 7:00 Friday evening, the Delaware State Police released a short statement alerting motorists that parts of Old Furnace Road west of Georgetown was closed.
“Georgetown- Delaware State Police is issuing a traffic advisory for Old Furnace Road between Rementer Road and Fleetwood Pond Road. An increased police presence will be seen in the area for a criminal investigation and travelers are urged to seek alternate routes of travel. This case is in the early stages of the investigation and additional information will be released once it becomes available.”
Initial reports from the scene indicate that a fatal shooting occurred at the location, however, Troopers have not released details surrounding the incident.
Several hours later, at around 1:30 Saturday morning, emergency crews were dispatched to the area of Route 113 and County Gardens south of Millsboro for reports of a shooting. Initial reports from the scene indicate that patient was transported by ground to Bebee Medical Center. Trooper 2 alerted to the incident was not utilized for transport.
