Police: Children Charged With First Degree Robbery, Release On Unsecured Bond

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police have arrested a 15-year-old female juvenile of Wilmington, and two 13-year-old female juveniles of Wilmington, in connection with a shoplifting turned robbery that took place at Boscov’s on Wednesday evening, according to Public Information Officer, Corporal/1 Jason Hatchell.

Hatchell said the incident occurred at approximately 7:36 p.m., January 6, 2021, at Boscov’s located at 4737 Concord Pike, Wilmington, when troopers responded to a shoplifting turned robbery. The investigation determined the three juvenile suspects concealed merchandise into bags and exited the store without paying. The loss prevention employee confronted the juveniles as they were exiting and attempted to recover the stolen merchandise. One of the suspects began physically assaulting the employee and threatened bodily harm to her. All three suspects then fled the area on foot, according to Hatchell.

Upon trooper’s arrival, they canvassed the area and located all three suspects in the parking lot of the Concord Mall. The 15-year-old suspect was located carrying the bag of stolen merchandise. Upon contact the 15-year-old resisted arrest, but ultimately was taken into custody without further incident. The two 13-year-old suspects ran on foot, but were apprehended by troopers a short time later.

All three juvenile suspects were then transported to Troop 1 where they were charged with the following:

Terroristic Threatening
Assault 3rd Degree
Resisting Arrest
The 15-year-old was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the New Castle County Detention Center on $63,500.00 secured bail.

13-year-olds

Both 13-year-olds were arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #11 and released on $63,500 unsecured bail.
