Elderly Man Trapped Under His SUV Friday Morning

At approximately 9:57 this morning, the New Castle County Paramedics, Minquas Fire Company of Newport, and Cranston Heights Fire Company, were dispatched to the unit block of Standiford Court, in the Village of Hershey Run Community, in Wilmington, Delaware, for the report of a subject trapped under a vehicle, according to New Castle County Paramedics Public Information Officer S/SGT Abigail Haas.

Haas said New Castle County Paramedics arrived on scene to find an 80-year-old man, still pinned beneath a medium-sized SUV. The subject was exiting his vehicle when for an unknown reason, it rolled backward pinning him beneath.

The patient was removed from beneath the vehicle by firefighters from the Minquas Fire Company and Cranston Heights Fire Company. He was treated on scene by the New Castle County Paramedics for possible internal injuries, before being transported to the Christiana Hospital, in Stanton, aboard an ambulance from the Minquas Fire Company, in stable condition.

The New Castle County Police is investigating the crash.
