Claymont – The Delaware State Police have arrested 31-year-old Joseph Williams of New Castle, DE, in connection with a stabbing that took place at an AutoZone, according to Public Information Officer, Corporal/1 Jason Hatchell.
Hatchell said the incident occurred at approximately 8:32 p.m., Thursday, April 22, 2021, at the AutoZone located at 2407 Philadelphia Pike in Claymont. A 25-year-old victim engaged in a verbal argument with Williams, an employee of the business after an acquaintance of the victim spun the tires to his vehicle while exiting the parking lot.
The verbal argument then transformed into a physical altercation. During the altercation, Williams stabbed the victim in the torso with a knife, said Hatchell. Troopers responded to the scene and took Williams into custody without incident. Upon taking Williams into custody, troopers recovered the folding knife still on Williams person. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Williams was transported back to Troop 2 where he was charged with the following crimes:
Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of A Felony (Felony)
Assault 2nd Degree
Williams was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and posted bail on $30,000 secured bond.
