Operation Safe Streets Officers Arrest Two In Wilmington

Wilmington – On February 16, 2017 at approximately 8:50 a.m., Operation Safe Streets Officers were conducting a home visit at a residence located in the 900 block of North Lombard Street, according to Wilmington Police.

Officials said that Kahalil Ameer-Bey, 21,resides at this residence and is currently on Home Confinement Probation. Officers entered the residence and encountered Nakeem Watson,24, of

Newark. Nakeem Watson initially provided officers with a false name and was found to have an active Violation of Probation warrant, according to police.

Authorities said that Nakeem Watson was placed in custody and a Taurus “The Judge” (5) shot revolver .45LC/410 GA was located in his waistband. The weapon was loaded with (5) .410 rounds. Also on in his person was (14) Alprazolam pills and counterfeit Crack Cocaine.

While being escorted to a chair Nakeem Watson headed butted a Safe Streets Supervisor in the right cheek area, according to police.

Officials said that approval for an Administrative Search of the residence was granted and during the search, officers located 10.4 grams packaged Marijuana, baggies commonly used to package drugs and a scale commonly used to weigh drugs. Kahalil Ameer-Bey and Nakeem Watson were transported to police headquarters and booked on the following charges.

Both defendants were committed to The Howard Young Correctional Facility, Watson in lieu of $110,000 Cash Bail and Ameer-Bey, $10, 000 Cash Bail.
