Woman Charged With Manslaughter In Mall Shooting Death

Delaware State Police have arrested 24-year-old Shaidiah McNeair of Philadelphia in connection with a homicide that occurred yesterday afternoon near the Christiana Mall, according to Public Information Officer, Corporal/1 Jason Hatchell.

Hatchell said on Monday, June 28, 2021, at approximately 4:08 p.m., troopers responded to 800 Christiana Mall Road for a report of a black Ford Fusion colliding into a metal guardrail in the area of the Target. Upon arrival, a 27-year-old female victim was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was transported to Christiana Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. Identification is pending notification to next of kin.

Further investigation determined a second subject was inside of the vehicle and exited prior to police arrival, according to Hatchell. Troopers canvassed the area and located the passenger, later identified as Shaidiah McNeair.  Hatchell said McNeair was taken into custody without incident. Subsequently, troopers searched the area for possible evidence and located a white plastic bag along an embankment that contained a handgun.

McNeair was transported to Troop 2 where she interviewed and charged with the following:

Manslaughter (Felony)
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
McNeair was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court #11 and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $250,000 cash bond.
