The Dover Police Department arrested a suspect following a shooting that occurred on Sunday evening on the west side of Silver Lake Park, officials said Monday. At approximately 6:47 p.m., officers received a call from a 27-year-old female victim that her car was shot while in Silver Lake Park and that she was following the suspect vehicle to Woodcrest Apartments.
Officers were able to determine that the suspect, later identified as Kiara Banks, 26, resided in the building and surrounded her apartment. Police then called the suspect out. Banks and another female occupant peacefully surrendered to the police. A search warrant was obtained for the residence and officers located a 9mm handgun inside of a trashcan, according to police.
Banks was charged with the following offenses:
-Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony
-Reckless Endangering 1st Degree (2x)
-Tampering with Physical Evidence
