Last Friday, Sept 24, 2021, at approximately 8:30 p.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to an assault that had just occurred on the 200 block of Mansion Parkway, in the community of Mansion Park Townhouses.
When the units arrived, they found 58-year-old Anthony Lyons suffering from multiple contusions and major blunt force trauma to the head area. Medics responded and the victim was transported to a local area hospital where he was admitted in critical condition. On Saturday evening Lyons succumbed to his injuries.
Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit were able to list 58-year-old, James Jones as the suspect in the assault, police said Tuesday.
On Monday detectives were conducting surveillance at Jones’ residence in the City of Wilmington when they observed Jones leaving. The detectives were then able to apprehend him and transport him to New Castle County Police headquarters.
There Jones was charged with one count of Felony Murder 2nd and arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and held in lieu of $300,000 cash bail.
