Dover Police are investigating an incident involving an untraceable firearm accoring to Public Information Office Sergeant Mark Hoffman
Hoffman said on Sunday, April 17th at approximately 7:53 p.m., an officer on patrol in the area of White Oak Road was approached by a 24-year-old male who told the officer that he was being chased by a subject with a gun.
After obtaining a description of the suspect and the victim pointing out the suspect, the officer attempted to contact Brandon Gatewood, 28, who was running towards Manchester Square said Hoffman.
When the officer approached, Gatewood fled on foot clutching his front waistband according to Hoffman. He was taken into custody shortly thereafter. A search of the area where Gatewood ran led to the discovery of a loaded handgun said Hoffman.
According to the victim, Gatewood approached the victim while he was seated in his vehicle on Starboard Court and pointed the firearm at him said Hoffman. The victim then exited his vehicle and fled on foot.
Gatewood was committed to SCI on a $113,000 cash bond on the following charges: -Possession of Firearm During Commission of Felony -Possession of Firearm/Ammo by Person Prohibited (2x) -Aggravated Menacing – Resisting Arrest -Possession of Untraceable Firearm -Possession of Weapon with Removed Serial Number.
