Once Considered A Victim, Now Charged With Wilmington Murder

Wilmington – Wilmington Police said that after continued investigation , Kashiem Thomas, 21,was developed as a suspect in the homicide investigation of Keevan Hale, which occurred on February 23, 2017 in the 600 block of E. 23rd Street.

Arrest warrants were authorized for the arrest of Kashiem Thomas for the charges of Murder in the 1st Degree, and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony. Thomas, was initially described as the 21 year old , second shooting victim in this incident. Thomas sustained a gunshot wound to his back and remains hospitalized. Thomas was arraigned at the Christiana Hospital and is to be turned over to the Department of Corrections upon medical release.

Authorities said that arriving officers were immediately directed inside of a residence in the 600 block of E.23rd Street. Inside, officers located a 38-year-old male victim on the first floor suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to his upper torso.

Assisting officers located a second victim, identified as a 21-year-old male down in the 600 block of E. 23rd Street. The 21-year-old male was found to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his back area.

The victims were treated on scene by New Castle County Paramedics and transported to the Christiana Hospital Emergency Room where the 38-year-old victim later died. The 21-year-old victim is in critical but stable condition.
