One Rescued From House Fire In Wilmington

Wilmington firefighters rescue resident of a home that was on fire Monday morning.

Wilmington Fire Department units on the C-Platoon were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the area of 4th and Monroe Street at 06:09 am.

Officials said Battalion-2 responded and on arrival reported smoke showing from a two-story, single-family residential in the middle of a row. Engine 1 arrived and deployed a hand line to the second floor, where they extinguished a front bedroom fire. Ladder 2 and Squad 4 gained access through the rear of the structure and found one occupant inside the first floor in moderate smoke condition.

The occupant was quickly removed by crews and brought to EMS for treatment and transported to the hospital for further evaluation. The fire was contained to the second floor of the fire building, with no extension into the adjacent structures.

Command placed the situation under control and no firefighter injuries were reported. The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation by the Wilmington Fire Marshal’s Office.
