11-Year-Old Claymont Kid Finds His Calling In Racing

In the world of motorsports, age is just a number, and David Kirkner is living proof of that. At just 11 years old, this young man from Claymont has already established himself as a force to be reckoned with on the racing track. Starting his racing journey at the age of 8, David’s passion for speed and adrenaline has propelled him to great heights, and he shows no signs of slowing down.

David’s venture into the racing world began three years ago when he first got behind the wheel of Quarter Midgets. It didn’t take long for him to discover his natural talent for racing, and his skills progressed rapidly with each lap. Now, in his third year of Quarter Midgets, David has taken on the challenge of his Rookie year, competing in the Winged 125 Micro Car category. Despite being a newcomer, David has managed to secure an impressive 3rd position in points within his class, setting himself apart as the highest placing Rookie.

But David’s ambitions extend beyond personal success on the track. He dreams of using his racing platform for good and making a positive impact on the world. Such a noble goal at such a young age demonstrates his maturity and sense of responsibility. By using his growing influence and visibility in the racing community, David hopes to inspire others and contribute to charitable causes in the future.

When asked about his racing idols, David mentions three race car drivers he looks up to – Hailie Deegan, Chase Cabre, and Denny Hamlin. Their determination, achievements, and sportsmanship have left a lasting impression on David, and he aspires to one day meet them and perhaps even share the track with these racing stars.

Interestingly, David’s journey into the world of racing was prompted by the pandemic. With team sports unavailable during those uncertain times, David found a new passion in racing, and it quickly became an outlet for his competitive spirit. Little did anyone know that this momentary diversion would lead to the discovery of his true calling.

David competes at the Airport Speedway dirt track near New Castle County Airport. If you find yourself at one of the races, keep an eye out for the “First State Update” logo on his car. We are proudly sponsoring David and supporting his pursuit of excellence in the racing world.

It’s truly inspiring to witness such young talent taking the racing world by storm. As David Kirkner continues to hone his skills and gain experience, there’s no doubt that he’ll continue to make headlines in the motorsport world. So, fasten your seatbelts and keep an eye out for David Kirkner – the name of a future racing legend in the making.
