Police Make Arrest In Wednesday Shooting

Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with Wednesday evening’s shooting incident.
 
On Wednesday at approximately 5:31 p.m., police were dispatched to the 1200 block of South Park Drive in reference to a shooting incident that had occurred. Police located a 40-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
 
The case was assigned to Detective James Rook of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Rook identified 39-year-old Jamaal Brown as a suspect police said Thursday.
 
A short time after the shooting incident, Brown was located in the 1400 block of East 29th Street by members of the Safe Streets Task Force and the Uniformed Services Division. He was taken into custody without incident and a 9mm handgun was recovered.
 
Brown has been charged with Assault (First Degree) and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $100,000 secured bail.
