New Castle County Police have identified the woman found dead in a wooded area at Carousel Park on Tuesday morning.
Officials said the female victim has been positively identified as 63-year-old Cynthia Amalfitano of Wilmington.
On Tuesday the Evidence Detection Unit and the Delaware Medical Examiner Unit responded to the scene.
On Monday, the police issued a Gold Alert for Amalfitano who lived in a home in the 3400 block of Birch Circle, near the park.
The alert was issued after her coworkers became concerned when she did not show up to work on Monday morning. When officers arrived at the house they located the woman’s vehicle. Officers made entry into the home where they found the woman’s personal belongings, including her purse and cell phone.
Amalfitano was last seen on the evening of Saturday, September 23rd, when she left her home according to police.
