Wanted Man Charged After Fleeing From Police

On Monday, October 2nd, 2023, at 2:24 p.m., an incident unfolded at the intersection of North Bradford Street and West Division Street in Dover, Delaware, resulting in the arrest of Sean Brownawell, a 35-year-old Dover resident.

Officials said Dover Police Officers were called to the area to assist Probation and Parole in apprehending Brownawell. Brownawell was wanted for violating his Probation and had a warrant for his arrest from the Delaware State Police.

When contacted, Brownawell ran away from Probation Officers. Dover Police arrived on scene and assisted Probation and Parole in taking him into custody. During the incident, Brownawell sustained injuries and was transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus where he was treated and released. He was transported to Dover Police where he was processed and arraigned.

After his medical assessment, Brownawell was transported to the Dover Police Department for processing and subsequent arraignment. In addition to the initial probation violation, he faces charges of Resisting Arrest with Force and Offensive Touching (3 counts).

Brownawell was committed to SCI on a Violation of Probation charge and released on his own recognizance on the new charges.
