The Dover Police Department has scheduled a press conference for Wednesday, December 27th, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. to announce the arrest of a suspect linked to the homicide that occurred on Ann Avenue on December 14th, as well as involvement in two other shooting incidents in December.
On the evening of December 14th, 2023, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Dover Police Department initiated an investigation into a shooting on Ann Avenue. The incident resulted in the death of a 42-year-old male resident of Dover and left a 59-year-old male, also from Dover, injured. Both victims were found with gunshot wounds to their upper bodies and were transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus. The 42-year-old succumbed to his injuries, while the 59-year-old remains in stable condition.
The Dover Police Department has not specified which additional shootings the arrested suspect is connected to. However, two other shootings were reported by the department in Dover in December.
The first incident took place on December 2nd, 2023, at 5:34 a.m. at Wawa on 1450 Forrest Avenue, resulting in a 45-year-old male sustaining injuries from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus for treatment.
The second incident occurred on December 8th, 2023, around 2:04 a.m., where a 25-year-old male was injured due to gunshot wounds in the area of Village Drive and Quail Hollow Drive. In all three shootings, Dover Police said they did not have any leads in their public statements.
The Dover Police Department has not disclosed whether the two additional shootings occurred within its jurisdiction or provided further details regarding the connection between these incidents and the suspect.
