Man Charged With Aggravated Menacing With A Knife

Delaware State Police arrested 43-year-old Yonghua Xu of Bear, Delaware, for aggravated menacing with a knife Wednesday morning in Bear.

Officials said on April 17, 2024, at approximately 11:06 a.m., troopers responded to a report of an aggravated menacing at the News Journal Company located at 139 Rickey Boulevard in Bear.

Upon arriving, troopers learned the suspect, identified as Yonghua Xu, and the victim work in the same shopping center and have had conflicts in the past. On Wednesday, Xu blocked the victim’s vehicle with his van as the victim was trying to leave the parking space. The victim got out of his vehicle to confront Xu, and saw Xu holding an unfolded pocketknife. The victim backed away as Xu got out of his vehicle and walked towards the victim with the knife in his hand according to police.

Xu then returned to his van and fled in an unknown direction. A short time later, Xu returned to the parking lot while troopers were at the scene investigating and was taken into custody without incident.

Xu was taken to Troop 2, where he was charged with Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony) and Aggravated Menacing (Felony).

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11, and released after posting a $66,000 cash bond.
