Woman Seriously Injured In Tractor-Trailer Crash Thursday Morning

On Thursday morning, at approximately 8:15., emergency responders were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision with entrapment on Interstate 295 southbound near West Basin Road. The incident involved a single tractor-trailer colliding with a guardrail, resulting in the driver becoming briefly trapped.

New Castle County Paramedics, along with the Belvedere Fire Company, Minquadale Fire Company, and Minquas Fire Company, responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they found the approximately 35-year-old female driver entrapped in the vehicle. Rescue efforts were quickly initiated, and the driver was extricated from the wreckage.

The driver sustained serious injuries, including extremity injuries and potential internal injuries. She was transported by New Castle County Paramedics aboard a Minquadale ambulance to Christiana Hospital in serious but stable condition.

The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the cause of the collision. The Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control also responded to the scene to assist with any potential environmental hazards resulting from the accident.

The crash and subsequent investigation blocked all but one lane of I-295 SB for much of the morning commute.
