The Delaware State Police have arrested 26-year-old Keenan Brown-Meads of Claymont for a sexual assault and carjacking that occurred Wednesday night in Claymont.
Officials said on May 29, 2024, at approximately 11:55 p.m., troopers responded to a residence on Philadelphia Pike following a report of a sexual assault and carjacking.
Upon arrival, they learned that an unknown black male suspect had approached the victim as she was exiting her parked car. The suspect then sexually and physically assaulted the victim before dragging her out of her car and fleeing in the stolen vehicle police said.
The victim, an adult woman, was treated and released from an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials said Brown-Meads was apprehended in Pennsylvania shortly after the incident. On Thursday morning at approximately 12:20 a.m., Tinicum Township Police Department officers in Pennsylvania observed the stolen vehicle near Philadelphia International Airport and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver and sole occupant, identified as Keenan Brown-Meads, was taken into custody by Tinicum Township Police. Through investigative means, Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Detectives identified Brown-Meads as the suspect responsible for the assault and carjacking. Upon extradition to Delaware, Brown-Meads will face charges of Rape 2nd Degree, Robbery 1st Degree, Unlawful Sexual Contact, Attempted Strangulation, and Assault 3rd Degree, all of which are felonies.
