Wilmington and Delaware State Police are currently investigating a series of shootings that occurred late Friday night and early Saturday morning.
At around 9:45 p.m. on the 500 block of North Monroe Street. Officers responding to the scene found two victims, a 23-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, both suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victims were transported to area hospitals, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
Just over three hours later, at around 1:00 on Saturday morning, another shooting was reported just two blocks from the Wilmington Police Headquarters, at East 3rd and North Lombard Streets. Rescue crews and Wilmington Police arrived to find a 26-year-old male gunshot victim, who was transported to the hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.
These incidents follow another shooting that occurred earlier on Friday evening in the Prices Corner area of Wilmington. Around 9:30 p.m., rescue crews responded to a call in Brookland Terrace, located in the 2900 block of Ferris Road, near Prices Corner. A victim with three gunshot wounds was transported to Christiana Hospital. The condition of this individual is currently unknown.
Social media is full of speculation that the Prices Corner incident may have been officer-involved. However, the Delaware State Police have not released any official information to confirm these rumors. Photos from the scene depict a substantial police presence with detectives actively conducting their investigation.
