Delaware State Police arrested 38-year-old Joey Finney of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, for multiple felony offenses following a pursuit yesterday near Felton.
On Tuesday, at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Kent County Governor’s Task Force was patrolling South Dupont Highway near Felton when they spotted a black GMC Yukon driven by Finney. Detectives, recognizing him from previous investigations and aware of his active warrants, confirmed his identity through a computer check. They attempted to stop the vehicle in the Royal Farms parking lot at 11460 South Dupont Highway, but Finney fled, initiating a pursuit.
During the chase, Finney was observed discarding an object from the vehicle while driving recklessly through several streets and roads in the Felton area according to police. The pursuit concluded in the parking lot of Uncle Willie’s on Reeves Crossing Road after detectives deployed stop sticks to halt the vehicle.
Upon inspection, detectives recovered a cigarette pack thrown from the Yukon, containing approximately 5.06 grams of powder cocaine and 0.07 grams of heroin police said.
Finney was subsequently arrested and transported to Troop 3. He was charged with two counts of Possession With Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance (Felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance, Tier 1 (Felony), Tampering With Evidence (Felony), Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal (Felony), Resisting Arrest, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and several traffic violations.
After being arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, Finney was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $18,900 cash bond.
