Troopers Update Man Found Shot In Backyard Monday

Delaware State Police have updated a story that only First State Update brought you this morning.

Officials said they are investigating a shooting that occurred in Milton this morning.

On July 22, 2024, at approximately 4:47 a.m., troopers responded to the 14000 block of Collins Street in Milton for a report of a shooting. When troopers arrived, they found a 19-year-old man who was shot in upper torso and began life-saving efforts. The victim was taken by ambulance to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was living in a shed on the property when an unknown suspect fired several shots into the shed, hitting the victim.

At approximately 4:45 AM on Monday, rescue crews responded to a residence on Collins Street in Milton following reports of a shooting. Authorities arrived to find a male victim who had been shot multiple in a backyard.

Milton Police are investigating a Monday morning shooting that left a man in his 20s fighting for his life.

Milton Fire Department crews, along with Sussex County Paramedics, were dispatched to the scene. Delaware State Police Trooper 2 was utilized to search the area for suspects. It remains unclear if any suspects were located.

The victim was transported to Beebe Medical Center by ambulance in critical condition. Officials have not updated his condition.
