Man Facing Gun And Drug Charges After Traffic Stop

Delaware State Police have arrested 33-year-old Akeem Frazier of Greenwood, Delaware, on multiple gun and drug-related charges during a traffic stop in Bridgeville.

Officials said on September 3, 2024, at approximately 10:25 a.m., a trooper on patrol observed a Jeep Compass traveling northbound on Coverdale Road near Mill Park Drive with a registration violation. The trooper pulled the vehicle over and approached the driver, identified as Akeem Frazier.

During the encounter, Frazier failed to provide his driver’s license and appeared nervous when asked to exit the vehicle police said. Upon exiting, the trooper noticed the handle of a gun protruding from beneath the driver’s seat. Frazier was immediately arrested, and a subsequent search of both him and the Jeep revealed approximately .203 grams of heroin, 1.18 grams of crack cocaine, 0.71 grams of powder cocaine, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded .45 caliber handgun according to police.

Frazier was transported to Troop 5, where he was charged with multiple offenses, including possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited who also possesses a controlled substance, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited (two counts), carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and possession of a controlled substance (three counts). He also faces charges for possession of drug paraphernalia and several traffic violations. Following arraignment by Justice of the Peace Court 2, Frazier was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $50,803 cash bond.
