Thursday Shooting Makes 10 In Just Over A Week

In the past nine days, Delaware has experienced a surge in violent incidents, with multiple shootings occurring across Wilmington and beyond, leaving one person dead and several others injured.

The most recent shooting occurred last night, September 5, at approximately 11:42 p.m. in the 600 block of Tatnall Street. Police responded to reports of gunfire and found a 21-year-old male who had been shot. The victim was transported to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

This incident followed a string of shootings that took place earlier in the week. On Wednesday, September 4, at approximately 10:28 p.m., Wilmington Police responded to a shooting in the 700 block of East 22nd Street. A 19-year-old male was found with critical injuries from a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Hours earlier on Wednesday, another shooting occurred at the intersection of North Market Street and East 30th Street, where a 23-year-old man was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.

On Tuesday, September 3, police were called to the 2400 block of North Locust Street, where a 56-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital, where his condition was later reported as stable.

On August 31, when Wilmington Police responded to a shooting at 1:48 a.m. in the 100 block of South West Street. Officers found 28-year-old Jose Duran-Lopez, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds near a restaurant on the Riverfront. Despite efforts to save his life, Duran-Lopez was pronounced dead at the hospital.

On August 29, an 18-year-old male was critically injured in a shooting at the intersection of 2nd Street and Franklin Street. The teen, who was shot in the head, remained in critical condition at Christiana Hospital Trauma Center.

In addition to these incidents in Wilmington, a shooting in Milford on September 1 resulted in four people being wounded. Milford Police were dispatched to the 200 block of North Street, where they found four individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. All were transported to a nearby hospital and are in stable condition.

As the investigations continue, law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information about these shootings to come forward.
