Rider Seriously Injured In Tuesday Morning Crash

On September 10, 2024, at approximately 8:55 a.m., emergency response units were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Route 1 Northbound at the toll plaza.

Upon arrival at the scene, emergency personnel found a 50-year-old male who had been operating the motorcycle when it was struck from behind by a sedan. The patient sustained extremity injuries and possible internal injuries. He was transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in serious but stable condition, with New Castle County Paramedics providing care aboard an ambulance from the Odessa Fire Company.

The agencies involved in the response included New Castle County Paramedics, the Delaware City Fire Company, and the Odessa Fire Company.

The Delaware State Police are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the collision.
