New Charges Pending After Wife Succumbs To Her Injuries

On September 8, 2024, Delaware State Police arrested 52-year-old Nicholas Mosley of Lincoln, Delaware, for attempted murder and related charges following a shooting incident in Lincoln that left a woman in critical condition.

Officials said at approximately 6:48 a.m., state troopers responded to a residence on Deep Creek Drive in Lincoln after receiving a report of gunfire. Upon arrival, troopers discovered 43-year-old Denise Mosley and a 20-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Lifesaving measures were immediately administered by the officers, and the victims were transported to area hospitals. The woman was admitted to a trauma center in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries on September 9. The male was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the incident, Mosley fled the scene in a vehicle but later turned himself into authorities at Troop 7. The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit launched an investigation, which revealed that Mosley had shot his wife during an argument before also shooting his stepson. Three other family members were present in the home at the time but were not physically harmed.

Further investigation revealed that Mosley, a convicted felon, was prohibited from possessing a firearm. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3 and is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,101,000 cash bond. Mosley faces charges including attempted murder in the first degree, assault in the first degree, aggravated menacing, three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited due to a previous violent felony conviction, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Officials said updated charges are pending.

Court records show that Mosley’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 12, 2024, at 9:00 a.m. at Sussex County Court. He remains in custody at Sussex Correctional Institution.
