Dover Police Investigating Thursday Shooting

The Dover Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place on Thursday, September 19th, 2024, in the 100 Block of Willis Road.

Officials said at approximately 8:56 p.m., police responded to a call reporting shots fired in the area. Upon their arrival, they learned that a 25-year-old male from Dover had sustained a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim had already arrived at Bayhealth Kent Campus by private vehicle seeking treatment for his injuries.

According to investigators, the victim was driving on Willis Road when an unknown suspect opened fire on his vehicle. In the course of the incident, two nearby occupied residences were also struck by gunfire. No additional injuries were reported.

At this time, no leads have emerged in the case. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the Dover Police Department.
