Man Seriously Injured In I-495 Rollover Saturday

The Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that seriously injured a man Saturday morning.

The collision involved a rollover on Interstate 495 northbound near Philadelphia Pike at approximately 7:23 AM. Units from New Castle County Paramedics, Claymont Fire Company, and Brandywine Hundred Fire Company responded to the scene following reports of a trapped individual.

Upon arrival, emergency personnel confirmed the presence of a 47-year-old male patient, who had been trapped in his vehicle for over 20 minutes. The patient, who sustained head injuries, was initially treated on-scene by Claymont Fire Company EMTs and New Castle County Paramedics. After being extricated from the vehicle, he was transported in serious condition to Christiana Hospital in Newark via a Claymont Fire Company ambulance, with New Castle County Paramedics providing ongoing medical care during the transport.
