Three Children Injured, Man Charged With DUI

Delaware State Police have arrested 29-year-old Judson Wall, of Millsboro, for DUI, drug-related offenses, and charges stemming from a crash that injured three children in Long Neck.

Officials said on Friday, at approximately 7:25 p.m., Wall was driving a Mercedes GLE southbound on Indian Mission Road when he approached several stopped vehicles. According to the investigation, Wall was traveling at an unsafe speed and failed to stay in his lane, causing the Mercedes to sideswipe a BMW X7 and a Ford F-150 police said. The Mercedes then struck the rear of a Kia K5, which was pushed into a Chevrolet Silverado.

The 39-year-old driver of the Kia was not injured, but a 6-year-old passenger sustained serious, non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital. Two other children, aged 9 and 12, were also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Wall was taken into custody after showing multiple signs of impairment during Standardized Field Sobriety Tests according to police. A subsequent search showed 49.96 grams of marijuana in his possession. Wall was uninjured in the crash, and the occupants of the other vehicles were not harmed.

Wall was transported to Troop 7, where he was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (felony), first-degree vehicular assault (felony), two counts of second-degree vehicular assault, driving under the influence, failure to drive in a proper lane, failure to drive at a speed appropriate for conditions, and other traffic violations.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $7,004 secured bond. The investigation remains ongoing, and Delaware State Police Troop 7 is asking anyone with information to contact Corporal Grade One K. Koff at (302) 644-5020.
