Three-Alarm Fire Keeps Firefighters Busy Overnight

The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a three-alarm fire that occurred Monday night.

A large commercial structure fire broke out at 79 Albe Drive in the Old Baltimore Pike Industrial Park. Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company responded to the fire, along with several mutual aid companies, after the New Castle County 911 Center received multiple reports, including calls mentioning explosions inside the building.

When fire crews arrived at the scene, they encountered a 50-foot by 300-foot building with heavy fire showing through the roof and a partial collapse of the structure. Recognizing the magnitude of the incident, a second alarm was immediately requested. As the situation escalated, a third alarm was requested by 11:53 p.m. to bring in additional resources.

Crews worked through the night, and the fire was finally brought under control at 2:00 Tuesday morning. Fire personnel and equipment cleared the scene just after 3:30. There were no reported injuries.
