14-Year-Old Injured In Thursday Morning Crash On I-495

On Thursday, at approximately 10:32 a.m., New Castle County Paramedics, Wilmington Fire Department, and Saint Francis EMS were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Interstate 495.

Crews responded to the northbound lanes atop the Christina River Bridge in Wilmington. The incident involved a collision between a pick-up truck and a tractor-trailer.

Emergency units arrived promptly at the scene and assessed the situation. A 14-year-old occupant of the pick-up truck sustained minor facial injuries and was transported to Nemours Children’s Hospital in Rockland by an ambulance from Saint Francis Hospital. The drivers of both the pick-up truck and the tractor-trailer were not injured in the collision.

The Delaware State Police is conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.

The road was closed for around 90 minutes while the crash was cleared
