On Thursday evening at 5:41, emergency response teams, including New Castle County Paramedics, Odessa Fire Company, Port Penn Fire Company, Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown, and Delaware State Police Aviation Trooper 4, were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision near DuPont Parkway and Hyetts Corner Road. Initial reports indicated potential entrapment with multiple patients involved. Upon further assessment by responding units, it was determined that there was no entrapment.
On arrival, New Castle County Paramedics found a 61-year-old female patient in the care of Port Penn Fire Company EMTs. The patient had sustained injuries to her chest and lower extremities. After receiving treatment on the scene by paramedics, she was transported to Christiana Hospital in Newark via Delaware State Police Aviation helicopter. At the time of transport, her condition was reported as serious.
Three additional patients were assessed and transported to nearby hospitals with minor injuries by BLS ambulances. Delaware State Police are conducting an investigation into the incident.
